Top Ten Songwriters of the 90s- #10- Jeff Buckley

Considering he only released one record (Grace, 1994) Buckley left a profound influence on music after his death in 1997. Grace did not sell like crazy while Buckley was alive, but was critically acclaimed and he became immortalized after his death by fans and rock critics as the quintessential symbol of rock’s potential. His potential seemed limitless. Grace was one of the best albums of the decade displaying Buckley’s gift for songwriting with gems like “Grace”, “Last Goodbye”, “Lover You Should Have Come Over” and covers such as “Lilac Wine”, “Corpus Christi Carol”, and his famous rendeition of Lenorad Cohen’s “Hallelujah” displays his voice’s amazing range and power. He seriously had one of the greatest voices I have ever heard. He redefined what a songwriter could do vocally. Check out “Last Goodbye”.
